This is expressed as -ve (delta negative).I go forth investigate eight different alcohols using an alcohol or pumpburner, to measure the energy change during burning them by measuringthe change in temperature of some water held by a container. Thiscontainer must have a value of specific heat capacity so I couldcalculate heat transferred to it as well. Probably the most conductivecontainer lendable for use in the classroom is a calorimeter. As wellas not wasting energy i n the heating of the container, I could aliketry to stop heat from escaping the top and edges of the container bycovering it with a fitting lid.
